VILLAGE OF FREEPORT MAYOR RELEASES STATEMENT ON TRAGIC DEATH OF FREEPORT BOXER PATRICK DAY
FREEPORT, NY (Oct. 17, 2019) – Village of Freeport Mayor Robert T. Kennedy joined with the Village of Freeport Trustees, Department Heads, and residents in mourning the loss of Freeport-native Patrick Day, who passed away on Wednesday as a result of injuries sustained in a boxing match late last week:
“The Village of Freeport grieves with the Day family and Patrick’s loved ones, as they mourn this unimaginable loss. Patrick was the epitome of a Freeport resident: community-minded, selfless, and an example of the success that hard work and dedication can bring. He was, and will forever remain, an inspiration to all in the Village, especially to those who he mentored, and those who aspired to be like him. Our hearts break when thinking about losing one of our own in such a tragic incident, but we will never forget Patrick and the shining light he brought to this Village. We ask that all of Freeport residents keep his family and friends in their prayers during this especially difficult time,” said Mayor Robert T. Kennedy, Village of Freeport.
