Good Morning,
This is an important message from Mayor Robert Kennedy and the Freeport Emergency Management Office.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has continued the air quality health advisory for today in our area as a result of the wild fires in Canada.
The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects.
People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician.
As a result, the Village of Freeport is offering our residents facemasks free of charge. They can be picked up today in Village Hall at the cashier's window.
Thank you.
