    BY CAR: 

    1. From the GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE: Cross Bronx Expressway to the Throgs Neck Bridge to the Cross Island Parkway to Grand Central Parkway East to Meadowbrook Parkway South; follow #5. 

    2. From the VERRAZANO BRIDGE: Belt Parkway East (Long Island) to Southern State Parkway East to Meadowbrook Parkway South; follow #5. 

    3. From EASTERN LONG ISLAND: Southern State or Northern State West to Meadowbrook Parkway South; follow #5. 

    4. From NEW ENGLAND: I 95 to Throgs Neck Bridge to Cross Island Parkway to Grand Central Parkway East to Meadowbrook Parkway South; follow #5. 

    5. From MEADOWBROOK PARKWAY: South to Merrick Road West (Freeport) exit M9W At 4th light on Merrick Road turn left into Recreation Center parking lot.

  • You can download an application online or obtain one in person at the Human Resources Office in Village Hall, Room 217, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9AM and 4PM. Please keep in mind that the majority of our full-time job titles require certification through written examination.

  • The Village of Freeport adopted a local law pertaining to the residency of its employees. Under this law, (Section 42 of the Code of Ordinances), every person hired by the Village must either be a current resident of the Village or become a resident of the Village within six (6) months of successfully passing their probationary period. The volume of calls from persons in the affected neighborhood or throughout the Freeport community, overwhelm the 911 system and prevent true emergency calls from getting through.   • Collections may be made anytime between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. It is best to put your refuse at the curbside after 6 p.m. the night before your scheduled pick up day. Material placed curbside on the morning of pick up after 7 a.m. is considered a late put out and may not be collected.

  • YES. One family residences are limited to a total of five (5) cans, pails, bags, or bundles of non recyclable waste on each of the two (2) collection days per week. Legal two, three, and four family residences shall have the same limit per unit.

  • Bulk items larger than two (2) feet by two (2) feet by four (4) feet and exceeding the capability of being picked up by two (2) workers will be picked up each week on your second collection day. No special appointment is required.

  • Bulk items are large, primarily metal appliances manufactured for residential use and not limited to the following: refrigerators, freezers, ovens, stoves, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, swing sets, barbecues, hot water heaters, steel file cabinets, air conditioners, lawnmowers, bicycles, and steel furniture. These items will be picked up each week on your second collection day. No special appointment is required.

Items include the following: aerosol cans, ammonia, ammunition, antifreeze, asbestos, bleach, bug and rodent killers, automobile batteries, chemistry sets, degreasers, disinfectants, drain cleaners, explosives, fertilizers, fireworks, fire extinguishers, flammable liquids, infectious or medical waste, kerosene, lacquer, latex and oil based paint, oven cleaners, paint stripper, paint thinner and brush cleaner, photography chemicals, polishes & wood preservers, propane or oxygen tanks, radioactive materials, solvents, spot removers, swimming pool chemicals, varnish, tires,unlabeled materials, waste oil, and weed killers. To dispose of these items, please call the Town of Hempstead S.T.O.P. program at (516) 378-4210.
